Mission Statement
Buchanan County Head Start is a community pre-school program that prepares low-income children for success in school and gives them a true “head start” as they move from pre-k years into the public school system.
Buchanan County Head Start strives to provide support to eligible families, to teach them economic survivial, and to enhance an appropriate environment in which parents, children, and concerned professionals work, learn, and grow.
Buchanan County Head Start is a federally funded, non-profit organization currently serving 109 children in Buchanan County, VA. The program is governed by the Buchanan County Board of Supervisors, the program’s grantee board, and the Parent Policy Council, consisting of current Head Start parents and community representatives.
